Theodorus Jacobsz Vallensis / Van Dalen (1612-1673). Surgeon. Married Agatha van Beresteijn, and became mayor in 1672, 1673. May well have inherited the important collection of paintings owned by his father Jacob Vallensis (1570-1644). They lived at Oude Delft between Nieuwstraat and Oude Kerk, probably at number 134 or 138 - as did his son Cornelis (1648-1692) who lived there "across the Gemeenlandshuis" as well. Active in city government from 1647 onwards; alderman in 1657 and 1660; mayor in 1673.

Carel Fabritius did a mural painting for him showing illusion in spatial effects. Van Hoogstraten (1678) writes about the illusionistic murals which Fabritius made in Delft in the house of " the art-loving late Dr Valentius" and elsewhere, Valentius being the latinized name of Dr. Vallensis. Another Fabritius mural was in the house of Nicolaes Dichter.
