Maria Thins (c.1593-1680). She was born in an aristocratic Roman Catholic family from Gouda. Independently wealthy, she settled in Delft's papist' corner at Oude Langendijk, corner Jozefstraat where she lived and died. Johannes Vermeer became Maria's son in law when he married Maria Thins' daughter Catherina Bolnes (c.1631-1688).
