Christiaen Jansz van Bieselingen (c. 1557-c.1599/1606or after?). History painter, discussed in Van Bleyswijck's book on Delft. A 'good Master' according to Houbraken. Not in Delft Guild books. He sketched a portrait of the assasinated prince William of Orange. In 1577 he lived on Burgwal and in 1606 on Markt In de Boterpot alias Melkmouw (in the Butter pot) alias Het Vergulde Mortier (The Gilded Mortar) number 29.
Houbraken mentions a sojourn, with his wife in Madrid, Spain where he worked at the court until his wife died.
Note. GAD Huizenprotocol III, fol. 833 and GAD Personalia after 1575, citing 30 June 1577 (Burchwal) and 16 nov. 1606 (Markt). Houbraken 1753, I, p. 122. Hofstede de Groot Quellenstudien 1897, p. 355. Thieme-B. IV, p. 16. Montias 1981 p. 199-202. Houbraken I p. 122 spells name as Biezelingen. Either the death year c. 1599 is erroneous or the 1606 entry belongs to a namesake?
