Vermeer. The top wall anchor is fixed into the large horizontal beam which is resting on the entire length of the side wall. Onto this beam on the side wall rest the bottom end of the roof beams going up. The lower wall anchor is fixed into wooden frame of the house. A wall this thin could not survive the sideways pressure without the structural strength of a wooden frame. Thus this facade shows that a thin "curtain" wall was superimposed in front of (16th century or ever older) timber framing architecture. Timber frame is also known as 'half timber' .
